Caccia Birch House History Tour

Caccia Birch House

Continuing the tour, the Nannestad room was named after the Nannestad family who built Caccia Birch House.

It used to be the drawing room, where ladies would take tea and entertain themselves with card games, embroidery and playing music.

The Nannestad room features a magnificent bay window overlooking the rose garden and Hokowhitu lagoon and a small conservatory leading out to the gardens.

It has recently been redecorated with beautiful wallpaper and dazzling chandelier - photos hardly do this stunning room justice!

Today, the Nannestad is one of Caccia Birch House’s most popular rooms, used for small meetings and very popular for wedding and cocktail functions.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
