We would … View moreMy husband Ian is in the early stages of Parkinson’s/dementia. We are looking for a support companion on the odd occasion I am away. This person would be available for homecare which would entail checking on Ian in the morning and evening. You will not be required to stay overnight. We would also like this person to be available half day a month for an outing or companionship.

Ian is 66 years old and his interests are slot cars, motor racing, steam trains, gardening and general handyman activities.

Experience as a Carer is not necessary as Ian does not need help with walking or taking his medication, but the person we envisage as a support companion would be:
A mature male 50+
Have similar interests to Ian
A kind and caring nature
Clean driver’s license and clean criminal record.

His support will be funded through Ministry of Health.
