We’re heading into winter, and with households self-isolating together, there’ll be more cooking at home, and more use of open fires, heaters, and dryers - all things which can increase fire risk.
New Zealanders can be confident that Fire and Emergency is well-prepared and ready to respond to emergencies as usual during the nationwide self- isolation period.
Please call 111 if you have a fire, we will ask you whether anyone at the address is self-isolating or has a confirmed case of COVID-19. Where this is the case, we already have necessary measures in place to ensure everyone’s safety including protective clothing, gloves, masks, safety glasses and mask.

This weekend, grab a cuppa and some gingerbread and venture in to the dark, fantastical realm of Hansel & Gretel. Inspired by the old-fashioned magic of silent movies and music hall vaudeville, this ballet will transport you to a magical world with large-scale cinematic effects, world premiere choreography by Loughlan Prior and a specially commissioned score by Claire Cowan.
Live in your Living Room. This curated series of productions from the RNZB archive will be broadcast weekly on Facebook Premiere.

After contacting the Manawatu District Council, I was informed that this site and number are for rural places in the Manawatu which do not have a direct council. It is aimed at providing help with groceries or medication but it isn't for Palmerston North residents.
I am currently in communication with the Palmerston North City Council and have been informed that a similar site supporting for Palmerstonians is in progress but cannot accurately say when it will be up but it is hinted "Very Soon". I will keep you posted as soon as I hear anything.
Further to that I have enquired about what has been done with the information already submitted to MDC from Palmerstonians and have been told it was passed on back to the PNCC.
I have also asked PNCC if the info already submitted to MDC was able to be collated together in some way with the PNCC's upcoming support registration system, in any way people won't need to resubmit their applications and I am waiting to hear back on that.
So to recap, For those of us in Palmy,
1. Please do not apply to the MDC Support page
www.mdc.govt.nz... or contact 06 323 0000 this particular service is not for Palmerstonians.
2. Our Council is working on a similar system, it will be up very soon. I'll post here the moment I know.
3. If you have already applied to MDC, they sent your info back to PNCC in the hopes it can be integrated with PNCC support systems. I'm waiitng to hear back if that information can be used or if you need to reapply entirely when the PNCC COVID-19 Support site is up. I'll publish the info here as soon as I hear.

Many General Practices offer a patient portal. These are safe, secure ways to communicate with your General Practice. You may be able to; email your GP, nurse practitioner or long-term conditions nurse, check your what medicines you are on, check recent laboratory results or request simple repeat prescriptions.

Stay home. It WILL save lives.
Let’s all remember why we are taking such extreme measures.
Staying home won’t always be easy. But the evidence tells us this is the best way to save the lives of other New Zealanders.
Finding our routines
It will take some time to build up new daily routines. That’s to be expected. We all need to be gentle with ourselves, and accept that things could be difficult for a while as we learn to adjust.
Looking after ourselves and others
Don’t forget to take time to look after yourself, and also to check-in on others. Asking someone how they are feeling is a good way to connect and show that you care.
We all need to stick to the plan
For this to work, and the effort we are all making to be worth it, we all need to stick to the plan, all the time. No exceptions.
Don’t move around
The virus is spread by us. So we all need to avoid moving around as much as possible. If you do go out for exercise or to get essential supplies, stay local. This is incredibly important. Don’t move between different areas.
Thank you for doing your bit
A massive thank you to everyone for working so hard to slow the spread of COVID-19. Together, we can and will save lives.
