CALL FOR INFORMATION

SPCA is appealing to the public for information after a male puppy was found abandoned near Palmerston North.

The one-week-old puppy was found yesterday afternoon on Flygers Line, outside of Palmerston North, amongst bags of rubbish on the side of the road.

The black and brown large breed puppy had no food, water, or shelter and was found by a member of the public, who subsequently brought him into our Palmerston North Centre.

He was extremely dehydrated, lethargic, flyblown and infested with maggots. A vet assessment determined that his condition was beyond saving, and the heartbreaking decision was made to end his suffering.

“We are heartbroken and devastated that someone could let this innocent puppy suffer like this. This puppy’s death should have never happened,” SPCA Palmerston North Centre Manager Katie Pedersen says.

SPCA is now appealing to the public for information. Do you know anything about this puppy? Were you in the area yesterday? All information provided will be treated as confidential.

If you have any information about this puppy, please call our Palmerston North Centre on 06 357 2516, and quoting job number 326056.
