Order your new 2019 | 2020 Entertainment Membership now! Support Manawatu Alley Cat Trust Charity

Mark from Palmerston North Central

The new digital Entertainment Book is out.
Please buy to save money around Palmerston North, (includes the whole of Manawatu and Wellington regions) whilst helping to raise funds for the Manawatu Alley Cat Trust - a small, non-profit volunteer organisation that cares for stray and feral cats in the streets, alleyways and parks of Palmerston North.

There is so much work to be done out there. No one really gets to see the extent of undesexed stray and abandoned cats on the street, it is an invisible existence. The numbers are too high and we want them to drop.

Every cute tiny litter left unchecked will grow up feral, diseased and hungry, that is IF they survive. We are attempting to control the problem before it reaches overload- unfortunately we are at that point now.

We have good humane trappers that catch these stray and feral cats, they are then fixed and released if completely wild, or fostered out to homes that resocialise them and/or find them forever homes. We have a wee hospital like recovery room for the desexed TNR adults - a big thank you to a very generous and compassionate person who has set this up specially.

BUT, we cannot keep desexing and feeding the strays and supporting fosterers without money.

We need an injection of funds to help us keep going, one cat, one street at a time. This is our PLEA, every little helps.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.

Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, we’re a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.

For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.

Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature — and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?

We hope this brings a smile!

Poll: If we want to reduce speeding, what do you think actually changes driver behaviour? 🛻🚨🚓

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

In the Post's article on speeding penalties, the question is asked whether speeding fines are truly about road safety, or are they just a way to boost revenue for the Crown?

What do you think? Should speeding motorists receive speeding fines or demerit points?
