Vehicle owners: keep security top of mind

The Team from Manawatu, Taranaki, Whanganui-Ruapehu Police

Levin Police are reminding vehicle owners to keep security top of mind, after a number of recent vehicle break-ins.
Police have received about 15 reports of this activity over the past few weeks, with radar detectors and number plates being targeted.

Enquiries are ongoing into these matters, however this is a timely reminder to keep your vehicle secure, particularly overnight.

🚙 Ideally, keep all vehicles in a garage or out of sight. If this isn’t possible, park in a well-lit area that is well-frequented by passers-by.
🚙 Always remove valuables from your vehicle – visible items are an incentive to thieves.
🚙 Lock your vehicle when you leave it, and use a car alarm, steering wheel lock or similar as an additional deterrent.

Anyone who is the victim of a vehicle break-in should notify Police through our 105 service.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
