Exciting news from Food Together Awapuni

Kathriona Benvie from

Food Together Awapuni has some exciting news. Firstly a new national website should be up and running in the next week or two. The aim is to make things more secure and help streamline the ordering process.
Meanwhile we have been advised that orders will be standardised around the country so this is what you will be able to order for this Thursday 2 May. It is a change from what you have previously ordered but we hope you will enjoy having four sizes of order to choose from and that may better fit the needs of you and your family.

1. Gold Order $10. One bag of seasonal best buys in produce. Containing 6-7 varieties.Goes towards feeding 1-2 people with seasonal produce for the week .
The Gold order this week is expected to contain half a cabbage, potatoes, carrots, apples, pears and feijoas

2. Community order $15. An order of fruit and and vegetables containing 7-8 varieties of produce. These bags of fresh, seasonal food represent great value for a couple. Our orders will still be packed into tubs and we ask that you to bring your own re- useable bags or containers as you have been doing.
The community order this week is expected to contain a whole cabbage, potatoes, carrots, broccoli, onions, apples, pears and feijoas

3. Community Gourmet order $26.50. This order of fresh fruit and vegetables should feed a couple for a week and includes our biggest range of produce with 8-12 varieties. Packing will still be in to tubs which you will then transfer into your own bags or containers
The Community Gourmet order this week’s is expected to contain a whole cabbage, potatoes, carrots, broccoli, onions, beans, apples, pears, feijoas, kiwi fruit gold, new season mandarins and bananas.

4. Whanau Fiesta Box $36.50. This is described as the best deal in town and due to size it will be packed into a cardboard box for you to take home. This order is designed to feed 4 for a week. This box has similar contents to our Community Gourmet Box, but in greater quantities + occasional extras. We don’t publish exact contents, so we’re free to shop for the best deals.
This week we have been advised that the contents will be same as for Community Gourmet with larger volume of the staples.

Deal of the week is 250g of dates for $2.50.

Everyone who orders this week will go into the draw for a free Community Gourmet box next week.
Why not order now at www.foodtogether.co.nz...
Orders will still close off at midday on Tuesday to guarantee pick up this Thursday.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.

Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, we’re a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.

For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.

Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature — and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?

We hope this brings a smile!
