Two of the missing guns had been with police after all

Matthew Dallas Reporter from Manawatū Standard

Firstport is on the hunt for reviews of the best accessible day trips and they need your help!

Venues, attractions, councils and businesses are increasingly improving their physical and sensory accessibility provisions to enable everyone to enjoy what they have to offer. These great places might have accessibility features that help with physical access and inclusion, or perhaps special sensory features.

Submit your review as part of Firstport’s Great Accessibility Day Out competition and help share news of the places that are top of the pack when it comes to providing accessibility for all. By entering you’ll go in the draw to win an Annual Pass for an attraction of your choice, up to the value of $250!

From the reviews received, Firstport plans to build a fantastic library of reviews to sit on the website that other family and friend groups can check out next time they’re planning a special day out. The competition closes 5pm Sunday 11th August 2019.

To find out more about the competition and submit your review visit www.firstport.co.nz...

Historic Caccia Birch House in Hokowhitu, Palmerston North is open for viewing on some Sunday afternoons, so come along and experience the beautiful handcrafted rimu timber panelling and elegant chandeliers along with the extensive history of the property.

Dates and Times will be:
Sunday 28th July 1:00pm - 4:00pm

Sunday 4th August 1:00pm - 4:00pm

Sunday 11th August 1:00pm - 4:00pm

Sunday 18th August 1:00pm - 4:00pm

Explore the house and gardens, learn about the past owners and how the house was rescued from dereliction and destruction in the eighties by PNCC and many supporters. Then brought back to life in the nineties to become a thriving venue with stories of the past to tell.

The Coach House will be open, displaying the history archives throughout the old stables.

This is also a good time to view the venue if you are planning on holding a wedding or function. Feel free to approach our friendly staff for a chat or pick up one of the brochures from the foyer that contain all information on making a booking.

Extensive care has been put into the preservation of the buildings - so we love to share the experience of yesteryear with visitors.

We are open to the public and entry is free! There will also have some unique entertainment on these afternoons, follow us on Facebook to keep up-to-date.

We look forward to seeing you there!
