I see that the Palmerston North City Councillors have decided to stick with the ridiculous STV voting system for the local body elections again. I think this is probably the main reason that Palmerston North has one of the lowest turnouts in the country. I have never yet found anyone who can actually explain how this system actually works in a way where I can figure out if my vote is actually worth doing

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
