Final sale for the year - magnificent cook books, same price as all book sales, $2 each or 3 for $5. Buy a cook book for someone you love. Also selling collector items Dolls of the World, in original packaging, dozens to choose from. Check for prices on Sunday 19th December, at Hokowhitu Village Market, 9 am to 12.30 pm. Christmas raffle tickets for sale, doll with wardrobe of clothes, plus Christmas hampers (4 draws). Tickets $2 each or 3 for $5. Draw will take place at 12 midday. We still have plenty of books for sale, and jigsaws. See you there on Sunday

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
