It's been over a month since we had any worthwhile rain so drought conditions are settling-in, particularly with increasing temperatures. On Wednesday, Jan 17 the maximum temperature in Kapiti was 27.4 degrees and yesterday 28 degrees, both recorded in central Paraparaumu. Also, over the last two nights the temperature did not drop below 20 degrees there.

Marie from Waikanae

We could have a weigh-in and the winner could receive a garden voucher or similar. … View moreInstead of running polls that ask if people want more rubbish collection, and encouraging people to put out more waste, why not have a competition to see who can get closest to zero waste over a couple of weeks. Water restrictions

Ian from Otaki District

I see Neighbourly says Ōtaki has water restrictions. Not so – nor for Kāpiti, which has the benefit of water meters. Here in Ōtaki we are part of the Wellington region (coming within GWRC) but once again, we get lumped in with everyone else.
