Fa’afetai mo le agalelei fa’atua’oi literally translates to "thank you for your neighbourly kindness". We think that's a pretty special way to show your appreciation for a neighbour. Happy Samoan Language Week!

Autumn ends. But I choose an alternative reality, just like humans do.

It is not Friday and the picture is not of a bird but this close-up of a wasp face by regular Friday Feathered Friend contributor Andrew Gorrie is too good not to use.

My approach to care embraces a true person centred approach, made possible by my being able to offer 1:1 care, tailor made for your loved one's needs. As little care by the clock as is possible. Care is structured according to your loved one's presentation as being the sum of :
P+B+H+NI+SP
P = Personality
B = Biography
H = Physical Health
NI = Social & Physical world around them.

"This is my 25year old Chinchilla called Chilli. She is a Standard grey colour, and she is the sweetest wee girl, who loves her cuddles and snuggles with Mum, and loves pats and tickles from all of our family. Its very very rare to have a Chinchilla who loves to be touched as much as she does. She is a rescue who came from people who didn't know how to properly care for her. Her favorite treats are dried Red rose petals, dried rose buds and most of all, her Apple sticks. I love her so much."

"I was going to leave the tūī for my checklist until the kowhai or flax were flowering later in the year - you know, for the poses, but this guy just about landed on my lap in the Herb Garden at the Wellington Bot Gardens - he's on a stake by the curry plant, which funnily enough, really smells like curry. He was singing up a storm in the pine trees before swooping down for a quick sniff. Bird #83 in 2022."
