Environmental award winners showcase region’s commitment.

Taranaki Regional Council

This year’s award winners are all exceptional examples of the hard work and innovative approach of passionate Taranaki people who are committed to enhancing the health and well-being of the region's natural environment.

The results of their efforts and leadership are beginning to show across Taranaki with flourishing forests and brilliant birdsong returning to the region and all their hard work to help achieve this is worthy of celebration.

We’re a region of people who walk the talk. We see what needs to be done, and we get stuck in and do it. This is the spirit that makes the region what it is.

So congratulations to our winners, and to all the others out there working hard to make Taranaki an even better place.

David MacLeod, Taranaki Regional Council Chairman

Poll: Do you think banning gang patches is reasonable?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

With the government cracking down on gangs, it is now illegal for gang members to display their insignia in public places whether through clothing or their property.

This means arrests can be made if these patches are worn in places like restaurants, shops, on public transport or ferries, and on airplanes. Arrests were made recently at a funeral.

Do you think this ban is reasonable?

Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.

When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?
