Homeowner Brittany Nawani, said "the blanket was on for a matter of minutes before catching fire and spreading quite fast."
She will no longer be using electric blankets and hoped others learned from their tragedy.
Advice to electric blanket owners is to replace them every five years, but if damage such as cracked wires or failing controller is showing, the blanket should be replaced immediately.
