Duck Race and BBQ Fundraiser
On Sunday March 17th Taranaki Red Cross is hosting its 4th annual Duck Race & BBQ fundraiser!
We have 600 rubber Red Cross ducks being released down the Huatoki Stream all the way to Puke Ariki Landing from 11am – 12.30pm.
This is a fun family event where lots of spot prizes will be handed out as well as prizes for the first three ducks to finish, the lucky last duck, whānau duck, wacky hair duck plus many more!
Hire one duck for $5 or three ducks for $10.
There will be a BBQ with $2 sausages and an ice cream machine with $2 ice creams so remember to bring some cash on the day. There will also be children's face painting and a children's human duck race (under 12) for kids to take part in.
All our tickets to hire ducks sold out last year so get in quick to secure yours now. They are available from the Taranaki Red Cross Service Centre at 116 Gill Street or order by phone (06 759 4697) or via email: newplymouth@redcross.org.nz.
All money raised goes towards New Zealand Red Cross to help vulnerable people in our community.
Poll: Do you think NZ should ban social media for youth?
The Australian Prime Minister has expressed plans to ban social media use for children.
This would make it illegal for under 16-year-olds to have accounts on platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X.
Social media platforms would be tasked with ensuring children have no access (under-age children and their parents wouldn’t be penalised for breaching the age limit)
.
Do you think NZ should follow suit? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts below.
