Following last week’s article in the Leader about the ford being removed on the Maitai River, if you support the ford being replaced with a bridge then please make a submission to the Parks and Reserves Asset Management Plan which closes on 14 April.
To do this go here: nelson.govt.nz...
A replacement bridge has been proposed to be built at the old nursery site about 400m up the road from where the ford was on the corner on the right. Currently this paddock is used for grazing but it has been proposed that it be made into a public reserve which would remain fairly much in its natural state. An early estimate for the cost of the replacement bridge is $180,000. If this work is approved it would not be designed until 2018/19 or constructed until 2019/20. If you’d like it be built earlier than this then please ask in your submission that it be given a higher priority and that construction be brought forward. Although this proposal has been made it is by no means guaranteed so if you’d like it to happen then please take action.

Under the Stars - Homeless in Tauranga
We are a Charitable Trust feeding the homeless and needy. We supply hygiene necessities, blankets, and clothing for those in need. We are also fortunate to have a hairdresser occasionally on site who gives her services for free. Recently we have begun to hold a drop in afternoon every second Thursday, giving people the opportunity to have a light lunch and a chance to chat. We are hoping to develop this afternoon more by offering a variety of creative arts. The volunteers that commit time and energy towards our meals do so mostly out of their own funds.

Proposed youth centre for Keith Street Wanganui central district
I propose the opening and running of a youth centre based in Keith street or Wanganui cbd. The benefits of having a youth centre in the community will bring together the younger and older generations, so we can learn from each others mistakes and experiences to enhance each other’s lives. We have a mixture of people from different cultures in our society in such a small radius that sometimes we forget about those who really are struggling with life, and they are the most vulnerable people in our society. I want to change that for the better, and help those people that are struggling to survive on the basic benefit or wages. VOTE NOW!

Hi. My name is Boyd.

I manufacture beautiful timber windows, doors, bench-tops, kitchens, lattice work, and any other custom joinery out of my very well equipped modern workshop.

With 30 years experience, and a workshop developed to suit, I have the capabilities to manufacture any style of timber window sash to fit into any home. In the past I have many happy clients. One in particular is the Grand Mecure Monaco Resort who have employed my services to replace some of the unique style doors and windows that have fallen to the harsh NZ sun.

The latest acquisition to the workshop is a CNC Router. In basic terms this machine can be programmed to cut out any shape you can imagine, the only limits are what the timber itself will handle. In addition I have installed an automatic extraction system to retrieve any timber shavings to let them be put back into the ground.

Being all about sustainability we are capable of using recycled timber and have a metal detector on the premises. Many joiners shy away from the risk of nails. I embrace it!

Utilising professional techniques and high quality specially sourced materials I stand behind all my work.

It might be time to think about that double glazing job or the drafty windows you have. Winter is on its way. Don’t be scared to ask for a price you might be very surprised.

If you are looking to replace that window or door to suit your original home, drop me a text/phone/email.
I am 027 2323701 or boyd.sofield@gmail.com

This window set below for sale is a test set for a lot where we needed to design our own knives for the machines. They are beautiful. There are no reveals or centre post installed as the new owners may wish for Rimu or another species to be installed. I can do this at a minor cost. The sashes are Western Red Cedar. The frames are finger jointed pine for stability. I was unsure what the treatment is so we will have to say ensure they are painted before installation.
