This month we want to challenge Neighbourhood Supporters to come together and give generously from the heart this holiday season. With so much going on this time of year itโ€™s easy to get caught up in the festivities and forget about others, especially those having a difficult time.

Whether itโ€™s an elderly neighbour who lives alone to a family on your street working hard to make ends meet, reach out to someone who could use a little extra joy in their life and remind them what the holiday spirit is all about!

Other ideas include fundraising for a local charity, doing a food or toy drive, organising a โ€˜Secret Santaโ€™ gift exchange on your street, giving a present to a neighbour who helped to make your 2020 better, or even host a community Christmas lunch.

Let us know how youโ€™re giving back in your community in December by emailing: info@neighbourhoodsupport.co.nz

Marc and Talya Horrocks are facing a battle with the Nelson City Council over their fireplace.

Marc and Talya live within Nelson South's "Airshed A" - which doesn't allow people to use or replace woodburners built between 1996 and 1999. After buying their house in 2017, it wasn't until 2019 they found out it was not permitted - and because of the unique features of the house (formerly the Nelson South Methodist Church) it could cost $30,000 or more to install an alternative heating system.

Do you think the council should re-consider its policy on woodburners in Nelson South - or will that just lead to high pollution levels in the area?

Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

MISSING My 11 year old male cat, name Sam.
Heโ€™s black with a white bib on the chest, heโ€™s a big cat, lost in the area of Berryfield Drive and 40 Youngberry Drive
Richmond, since 24/11. We moved house and area, he got spooked and managed to get under a gap in our fence, weโ€™ve looked everywhere as long as we could have before leaving for CHCH.. the new owners are also on the lookout for him as well as my son who lives in Nelson has been looking for him too.. Heโ€™s microchipped, but doesnโ€™t have a collar on. Heโ€™s our family and we would love to have him back safely.. PLEASE check your gardens, in between plants, sheds and garages if heโ€™s there. Heโ€™s probably very scared and doesnโ€™t do well with strangers. Any info of seeing him would be so appreciated.. if found please contain him somewhere safe, contact me on 0272450304 and my son will come and pick him up.
Thank You

Hi everyone,
We'd be keen to hear about your favourite summer holiday spots in NZ. Is there somewhere you keep returning to year after year and, if so, what are the main attractions? What makes it such a stand-out spot? Any tips you may be able to offer on the best things to see and do there - as well as the best places to grab a drink or bite to eat - would be much appreciated. Please put 'NFP' (not for publication) in your comment if you don't want it to appear in a travel article. Thanks again.
