A norovirus outbreak has been confirmed in a rest home in Nelson after several cases of gastroenteritis were reported.

Nelson Marlborough Public Health Service clinical director Dr Stephen Bridgman said it was not uncommon for cases of norovirus to occur in residential facilities and the Public Health Service was monitoring the situation.

Children with symptoms should be kept home from schools and ECEs, and adults should stay away from their workplace, while they are sick and for 48 hours after their last vomiting or diarrhoea episode. Read more here.

How can I prevent getting sick?
Hand hygiene is the single most important activity to help prevent the spread of colds, influenza, tummy bugs and other infections.

What if I've got norovirus?
The Ministry of Health advises people:
- Not to go to school, early childhood centres or work until well and for 48 hours after the last episode of diarrhoea and vomiting.
- Not to handle food for at least 48 hours after the symptoms stop.
- Immediately remove and wash any contaminated clothes and bedding using detergent and hot water.
- Thoroughly clean and disinfect contaminated surfaces by using a bleach-based disinfectant.
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water or an alcohol-based gel.

Hi all,

This is just a quick message to say hello and thanks! We've appreciated all the support for our business over the past two years as we've grown from my father's home garage to the present - where we have over 50 cars in stock.

We've been directly importing great quality cars from Japan, servicing them, adding a warranty and then putting them on the lot at a fair & reasonable price.

Japanese cars have great build quality & prices have come way down. With shipping being reasonably cheap we should theoretically see cheaper prices across the board in the used car market.

For some reason, Nelson prices have stayed inflated - which is where we step in! This has to change. Sometimes we are up to $1,500 cheaper than our nearest competitor. Not always - but we do price them down as often as we can!

We know it's not all about price BUT who doesn't want a good quality car AND have some money in their back pocket left over?

To that end, if you see this post as a member of Neighbourly, we are offering $500 off your next car purchase through us. This excludes cars that are already on sale.

A HUGE THANKS to all of you who have already supported us over the past two years. It's been a great ride so far and we are looking forward to helping you solve your transport needs.

Cheers,
Chris Wastney

Hi Everyone,
My grandson, Jordie (11), as part of a school project at Hampden Street School, has committed to raising enough money to install an Automated Electronic Defibrillator (AED) at Tahunaui Beach in time for Summer.
He decided on this after doing some research and realising that there wasn't adequate coverage for the tens of thousands of visitors the Beach has over Summer. This initiative will inevitably save lives.
Here is Jordie's Givealittle page:

givealittle.co.nz...

This is a 6 month project and he's in it for the long haul. Every little donation helps so if you can manage a fiver that's awesome. If you can manage more then that's a massive help.

If you need to know anything more then just hit the link above and watch Jordie's video. I hope you'll be inspired as much as I was.
