Partnership provides affordable homes for first home buyers

Katy Jones Reporter from The Nelson Mail

As home ownership sinks to its lowest in nearly 70 years, NMIT and local iwi from the Ngāti Koata Trust have teamed up to build at least two houses for registered Ngāti Koata whānau for a "significantly reduced price". NMIT carpentry students will build the properties on NMIT's Richmond campus, with a lack of labour overheads lowering the price. Are partnerships like this key to helping more people get on the property the ladder?

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
