RSV Vaccine Study in Nelson
We are looking for people over 60 years old to participate in a new study looking at an investigational vaccine for Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). This study is important because RSV is a contagious virus that can cause serious respiratory illnesses and can lead to complications such as pneumonia, bronchitis, and cardiac issues. In New Zealand respiratory tract infections are one of the leading causes of hospitalization and are the 9th leading cause of death in patients over 65. People over the age of 65 contract at least one respiratory tract infection each year. There is currently no vaccine available. Adults aged over 60 years who are in good health and independent with daily activities can take part. Eligible participants of this study will receive all study related tests and procedures at no cost and a reimbursement of $150 per clinic visit for your time and travel. The study will last up to 24 months which includes 8 visits to our clinic in Stoke, Nelson, regular phone calls, and additional visits if you have respiratory symptoms.
