GOOD NEWS - UPDATE - BEAUTIFUL HANGING BASKETS - BACK IN NOVEMBER.
You will be pleased to know there will be even more beautiful hanging baskets in our central city come November thanks to all the dedicated people involved in planning, assembly and caring for the baskets. Their enthusiasm and passion is amazing & is the key to the projects success. The wonderful team at the Nelmac Nursery begin the process over the winter months with the preparation and seeding of the wide range of flowers and plants to be used in the baskets.
NCC would really appreciate the help of volunteers for the next stage of planting out of the baskets over three day - Monday 14 Oct., Tuesday 15 Oct., Wednesday 16 Oct.. There will be two shifts per day with hopefully 15 volunteers each shift. If you would like to volunteer as a hanging basket planter then contact the friendly people at NCC's Customer Service Centre on 546 0200 to register.
HISTORY
The iconic hanging baskets in our City owe their beginning to the enthusiasm of the late Alan Drummond. Alan saw similar displays in cities around the world while travelling and introduced them to Nelson. His efforts to work with the Council, local businesses and enthusiastic supporters led to the hanging of baskets in our central city for the first time in 2000.
