Two nights ago … View moreHi neighbours, it's Baz here from the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter. Our fundraising campaign to help us purchase two new sets of Night Vision Goggles has now reached $4,315, still a long way to go to reach our target of $36,000 but every dollar counts, thanks guys.
Two nights ago we were dispatched at 2.10am to Murchison for a medical emergency. It was extremely foggy and we were only able to make it to the Owen and landed there while a St John Ambulance brought the patient to us. We then flew the patient to Nelson Hospital where they were treated. Without night vision goggles and the way the weather was, there would be no way we would have been able to get to them. It would have been a long journey to Nelson Hospital in the ambulance and potentially a different outcome. These goggles really are vital in our safety and also finding you.
