Should speed limits be lowered to make roads safe?
Eight options for lowering speed limits across Nelson-Tasman are heading out for consultation after a series of meetings by both local councils. The proposed changes could see urban roads with limits of 30kph outside schools, and 40kph in school neighbourhoods, some town centres, and streets without separated cycle facilities. In rural areas, it could mean 30 to 60kph outside schools, 60kph in residential areas, and 80kph limits for high risk roads. What's your view - do speed limits need to drop?
