Water Restrictions
Went for a lovely drive this evening. Quite happy until I drove past the Self Service Auto Wash in Nelson. People washing their cars with copious amounts of water and suds...... With a sprinkler and hose ban in effect, I am completely dismayed? As a window cleaner who has invested thousands of dollars to use a Pure Water System to make my job easier, I have ceased doing this, and got back on a ladder to conserve water. I'm now in two minds as to whether these restrictions apply to me? I would love to know what justification these guys have unless they are getting water tankers in from outside of Nelson. Please tell me this is the case? I understand Health & Safety, but this is not to clean some windows, it's the whole car.
Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
-
59% Yes, supporting people is important!
-
24.3% No, individuals should take responsibility
-
16.7% ... It is complicated
