Sharing so everyone knows
Hi everyone, just letting you know that my office has been responding to requests recently for a meeting to discuss some incidents of youth crime that have occurred in Stoke. We are working with some of the people affected to both support them and decide on the best type of meeting to arrange. I’m in Nelson this week and will share the meeting details once they have been finalised. I’ve met with the lovely man who was attacked by three young women, and his family and advocates and we are providing support to him. Everyone deserves to feel safe in their community, and I know that’s what most of us in Nelson want for everyone who lives here. Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
