Severe weather watch: Heavy rain for Nelson and parts of South Island
Keep an eye on the weather - a heavy rain watch is in place for the following areas:
- Nelson excluding the northwestern ranges
- Tararua range
- North Canterbury away from the headwaters, and Marlborough including the Sounds
- Southern and coastal Southland, and eastern Otago
MetService advises you to stay up to date with the latest forecasts in case parts of this Watch are upgraded to a Warning or new areas are added. Keep updated here
Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.
