FREE Cooking Classes for Seniors

Sally from The Brook

Have you lost your motivation to cook meals for yourself ?
Do you sometimes skip meals ?
Do you sometimes think you need more skills to cook better meals ?
Have you lost your confidence in the kitchen since the family left home?

If you answered YES to all of those questions these classes might just what you need !!!
* Every Tuesday morning 10.30 - 1.30pm
* Victory Community Centre

Learn about nutrition, eg meal planning, stretching your budget, cookery terms, portion control, deciphering food labels, tips to increase motivation and more.

We do the theory in the first hour, followed by a demonstration of how to make a meal, then you make that meal and when it's ready we sit down together and eat, clean up and go home.
You may possibly meet people you would like to stay in touch with, it's more fun eating with others than by yourself.

INTERESTED?
Call Sally Rees, your tutor, TODAY on 0211709443 or email at sallyrees02@gmail.com. We need 3 more people for the next 3 weeks of classes

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

DOC is rolling out a new tool to help figure out what to tackle first when it comes to protecting our threatened species and the things putting them at risk.

Why does this matter? As Nikki Macdonald from The Post points out, we’re a country with around 4,400 threatened species. With limited time and funding, conservation has always meant making tough calls about what gets attention first.

For the first time, DOC has put real numbers around what it would take to do everything needed to properly safeguard our unique natural environment. The new BioInvest tool shows the scale of the challenge: 310,177 actions across 28,007 sites.

Now that we can see the full picture, it brings the big question into focus: how much do we, as Kiwis, truly value protecting nature — and what are we prepared to invest to make it happen?

We hope this brings a smile!
