Creative solution sought for cathedral's costly flagging flag
The New Zealand flag flying proudly atop Nelson's Christ Church Cathedral is under threat, and it needs a creative solution.
The flag, measuring 3.6m by 1.8m, is flown most days from the tower along with the smaller Nelson city and cathedral flags.
Because of its large size and exposure to the weather, the New Zealand flag only lasts about 100 days before it starts ripping.
