Inaugural Conference of Ratepayers NZ Inc

Graeme from Nelson South

Inaugural Conference of Ratepayers NZ Inc
Saturday 10 & Sunday 11 November 2018
Ocean Lodge, 20 Muritai Street, Tahunanui, Nelson

This conference is to bring ratepayers and residents groups together from around New Zealand to form one association. We’d like to invite you to join us!

Guest speakers include: Dr Catherine Strong speaking on ‘The effect of Council Codes of Conduct on freedom of speech’; Jarrod Coburn – on the purpose, intent and structure of residents’ groups in NZ; and Jordan Williams who is a Director and Co-Founder of the Taxpayers Union. There will be Q&A after each speaker.

All welcome

The aspirations and purpose of Ratepayers NZ means there will be one organisation to be the driver of local government reform and accountability. Rates need to be affordable and explainable to ratepayers; accurate, politically neutral and full information needs to be given to elected Councillors to base their decisions on; public consultation, submissions and engagement should be meaningful - there is a lot that could be improved.

There is no registration fee.
However please email for your registration form and feel free to contact us for any more information.

Scam Alert: Bank cold calls

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

ASB is warning customers about reports of cold calls from scammers claiming to be from ASB. These scammers are trying to obtain personal information, including usernames, dates of birth, and verification codes sent to your mobile phone.

🛡️ The "Caller Check" Test
If you get a call from someone claiming to be from ASB and you’re unsure, just ask them for a Caller Check. You will then be able to verify the call through the app.

Remember, banks will:
❌ Never ask for your banking passwords, PINs, or verification codes
❌ Never need to know your full credit card number – especially the CVC
❌ Never ask you to download software or remotely access your device
❌ Never ask you to purchase gift cards or transfer funds.

If you have received a phone call and think your account has been compromised, call ASB on 0800 ASB FRAUD (0800 272 372), or visit your local branch.
