Junior Tech Band

Teresa from Napier South

The Napier Tech Band are launching a new initiative starting in Term 4: The Junior Tech Band. This is aimed at musicians who have been playing their instrument for between 1-4 years, who can read music and would like the chance to play with other like-minded young musicians. We are looking for woodwind and brass players, drummers, percussionists and bass players.
The Junior Band will be conducted by Teresa Cuthbert (registered NZ teacher with 23 years experience and 13 years experience conducting the Napier Central School orchestra) and will meet on Tuesday evenings 6pm-6.45pm in the Napier Tech Band Room, Whitmore Park, Napier. It will run for 8 weeks during Term 4, ending with a concert on 8 Dec with the Senior Tech Band and a chance to play Christmas carols together around Napier and Taradale. We may even fit in a busking session on Emerson Street!
This Junior Band will replace the holiday workshops previously run by the band and we hope this will become a regular activity, continuing next year, where we will see the musician’s skills progressing over time and leading eventually to them joining the Senior Band.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

Poll: As a customer, what do you think about automation?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Press investigates the growing reliance on your unpaid labour.

Automation (or the “unpaid shift”) is often described as efficient ... but it tends to benefit employers more than consumers.

We want to know: What do you think about automation?
Are you for, or against?
