Long Term Plan Community Workshop - 25 November
In planning the budget for the next three years (from 1 July 2024), Council wants to hear what you’d prioritise to save money and keep rates from skyrocketing.
We’re looking for 120 people across all demographics to help inform these decisions, with wider public consultation to follow in February 2024. To sign up to attend a workshop on Saturday 25 November, head to: survey.publicvoice.co.nz...
Council already has a $131m roading recovery programme ahead of it, and will continue to prioritise essential services like water and waste so we want to know, across other areas, what could we do with less of? And what can we not afford to cut?
Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝
In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”
We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?
Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.

New neighbour
Okay folks, if you feed your animals outside, you might want to rethink that. We have new nocturnal neighbours, inside Havelock North.
There is a very well fed brush tail possum up the pōhutukawa tree in my garden.
I don’t know where it’s come in from, but it’s in the middle of a residential neighbourhood, so keep an eye on your pet doors, open windows and doors and pet food.
I’ll be notifying council and DOC tomorrow.
