I mostly knit mine due to lack of funds and also, knitting became huge in the 1930s. I've even knitted an evening dress if anyone saw the fashion show at the Soundshell, that was my knitted collection.
Every Saturday from 10-1, I got to Wool N Things at the Onekawa shops for a knitting group. Everyone does their own thing and sometimes other crafts such as crochet and embroidery too.
There are thousands of free vintage knitting and crochet patterns on the internet if you'd like to make your own clothes, hats, bags and gloves. Please come and join us. I'd love to see more people wearing their own made outfits as that's was a big thing during the Depression and it beats wearing the same as everyone else.
We each pay $2 for the use of the facilities and there is a coffee shop next door or bring a thermos. If you purchase on the day of knitting group, Christine offers a 10% discount. It would be fabulous to have some new additions to our group.

Wow Carol, you and your team have done it again. Hastings Community Christmas Lunch feed 300 at the Havelock Community Centre today, special thanks to the 60 plus volunteers. Alot of happy people who would have gone without otherwise.
A huge thank you to those who have to care for those who have difficulty looking after themselves. I hope you have time with family at some time today. Have a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
