Stuff understands there is a man with a firearm in a house on the Alexander Avenue, in the suburb of Onekawa.
Streets surrounding the area have been cordoned off.
AFFECTED SCHOOLS: William Colenso College, Richmond School, and Henry Hill School.
Note to parents: "DO NOT come in and pick up your children, we are in lockdown. Your children are safely secured in their classrooms with their teachers. We will let you know when the police say it is safe to come in."
