Pickleball, a fun sport for all ages, shapes and sizes
Have you heard of pickleball? It's a fun paddle sport enjoyed by millions of people worldwide.
A cross between tennis, badminton and table tennis (or ping pong), pickleball is played on a badminton doubles-sized court using paddles and a hollow plastic ball with holes – also known as a wiffle ball. The net is slightly lower than a tennis net.
Pickleball is fun, social and friendly. The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.
Pickleball Hawkes Bay's home base is 707 Sylvan Rd, Hastings where we have nine outdoor courts. We also play at Napier indoor venues Rodney Green Arena and Meeanee Badminton Hall. Take a look at the 'Featured' section of our Facebook page, link below, for club days and times or feel free to contact me directly for more info. We supply paddles and balls so you only need court shoes. Mon/Wed/Fri from 3 pm, Sat from 1 pm and Sun from 9 am at Sylvan Road are good days for beginners as there is always someone who can teach you. Fair warning, though, it's highly addictive.
