They’re the friendly faces looking after you, your family and your community – and you’ll find them on the ground, mucking in and getting on with the job. Our volunteers have a wide variety of professional backgrounds, but when disaster strikes they are ready to go.
Regular training opportunities are provided at no cost and are delivered to industry best practice. Training topics include: First aid, Health and safety, Ground-level rescue, Emergency welfare, Personal preparedness, Stress management, Communicating with distressed people during emergencies, Radio communications, Incident reporting, Casualty handling, Triage, Medical ethics, Flood awareness.
We are always looking for keen people to get involved. The Hastings Knitter Knatters meet every second Thursday at the Service Centre on Heretaunga Street in Hastings from 1.30pm. The first meeting for 2020 with be on Thursday 16th January.
The Knitter Knatters are also looking for any donations of wool, this wool is used to create knitted items that are donated to those in need or sold raise funds for NZ Red Cross.
Wool can be dropped to the Hastings Service Centre or if you call the Centre on (06) 878 8438 and they will organise one of the ladies to pick it up.
I am wanting to purchase a lifestyle section in Whanganui. Minimum 1 hectare and preferably flat however will consider other options. Please message me with contact details.
