N.C.C. Proposed rates changes.
The N.C.C. on 20/10/20 held a public consultation meeting at the King George Hall Bay View over this issue. What did we learn. The N.C.C. have been working on this issue for 2 years without any public consultation ?This looks like consultation after the occasion/decision ? We were told 22.000 Napier ratepayers (the ones who receive the most benefits or are closest to N.C.C. amenities and receive all amenities such as footpaths, street lights, fire hydrants etc) will pay less and the Napier city rural ratepayers (2400) will pay more.Seem fair ? The King George Hall was full to capacity with some people having to stand.Without exception when a vote was taken to see if those present supported or apposed these "proposed" changes The vote to appose was unanimous.
Now you think that would be enough for the N.C.C. to take another look at this proposal. But as the Mayor said people need to put in written submissions to the N.C.C. if they agree or appose this "proposal"
IF PEOPLE WHO ATTENDED THIS MEETING WANT TO HAVE A REAL IMPACT ON THE N.C.C. OVER THIS ISSUE WE MUST ALL PUT IN WRITTEN/EMAIL SUBMISSIONS APPOSING THIS PROPOSAL.
Written/email submissions need not be complex, you do not necessarily
have to state why you appose this imposition. Or you could say you appose it for all the reasons put foward at the public meeting or state the reasons why you appose it. DOING NOTHING WILL ALLOW THE N.C.C. TO PROCEED AS THEY WILL SIMPLY SAY THEY HAD SO FEW WRITTEN SUBMISSIONS EVERYONE MUST AGREE WITH THEIR PROPOSAL.(The result of the public meeting will be ignored)
My General rate portion of my rates will increase 39% under their proposal. For that I get a weekly rubbish/recycling service full stop.
Lance Simon.

If a zookeeper had 100 pairs of animals in her zoo, and two pairs of babies are born for each one of the original animals, then (sadly) 23 animals don’t survive, how many animals do you have left in total?

The Press investigates the growing reliance on your unpaid labour.
Automation (or the “unpaid shift”) is often described as efficient ... but it tends to benefit employers more than consumers.
We want to know: What do you think about automation?
