Like a lot of other people my water was filthy over the last three days. As usual I ran the cold tap for about 25mins first thing til the water looked much clearer as per Council instructions. I then ran the cold tap again at lunch time into the bathroom hand basin. It was discoloured again and when i let the water out the hand basin was left with what I can only discribe as a coating of grey silt.....and I had been drinking this,,,not out of the hand basin of course but during the morning cuppa. I phoned the Council and was told that as I had only complained on two previous occasions they didn't know it was happening!!!!!! It's only been happening for over two years. I was told I should ring them every time the water was dirty so they could work out a plan and find out where the problem is I don't hold much hope of it changing things but it is said the age of miracles isn't past . So LET US ALL phone the Council every time we find our water the varying shades of brown and see what happens
Good luck in getting through on what should be very busy lines.

The Minister for Seniors Tracey Martin has released the new strategy for our ageing population, Better Later Life – He Oranga Kaumātua 2019 to 2034.
Like the rest of the developed world, New Zealand has an ageing population. This means there are some things we must consider and prepare for as a country.
Better Later Life takes a fresh look at what is required to ensure New Zealand is a great place to age and achieve the vision of making sure older people lead valued, connecting and fulfilling lives.
The strategy's key areas for action will be used to guide the priorities of what needs to happen in our action plan.

Jo and Rachel talked about what's going on in their own backyards and suggested some edible crops you can sow and grow yourself. Jo gave a masterclass in planting tomatoes, the pair discussed peeing on lemon trees and keeping cats out of your vege beds, and Rachel talked to a Central Otago gardener who has to deal with extreme temperatures, extreme drought... and temperamental donkeys. You can also follow the conversation on Spotify and Stitcher. Let your friends know too!
