N.C.C. Proposed rates changes.

The N.C.C. have been working on this issue for 2 years without any public consultation ?This looks like consultation after the occasion/decision ? We were told 22.000 Napier ratepayers (the ones who receive the most benefits or are closest to N.C.C. amenities and receive all amenities such as footpaths, street lights, fire hydrants etc) will pay less and the Napier city rural ratepayers (2400) will pay more.Seem fair ? The King George Hall was full to capacity with some people having to stand.Without exception when a vote was taken to see if those present supported or apposed these "proposed" changes The vote to appose was unanimous.
Now you think that would be enough for the N.C.C. to take another look at this proposal. But as the Mayor said people need to put in written submissions to the N.C.C. if they agree or appose this "proposal"
IF PEOPLE WHO ATTENDED THIS MEETING WANT TO HAVE A REAL IMPACT ON THE N.C.C. OVER THIS ISSUE WE MUST ALL PUT IN WRITTEN/EMAIL SUBMISSIONS APPOSING THIS PROPOSAL.
Written/email submissions need not be complex, you do not necessarily
have to state why you appose this imposition. Or you could say you appose it for all the reasons put foward at the public meeting or state the reasons why you appose it. DOING NOTHING WILL ALLOW THE N.C.C. TO PROCEED AS THEY WILL SIMPLY SAY THEY HAD SO FEW WRITTEN SUBMISSIONS EVERYONE MUST AGREE WITH THEIR PROPOSAL.(The result of the public meeting will be ignored)
My General rate portion of my rates will increase 39% under their proposal. For that I get a weekly rubbish/recycling service full stop.

Two fictional missing kayakers had local first responders out in force at Waimarama Beach on Sunday.
The kayakers were at the centre of a joint training exercise for Police, Coastguard and the Hawke’s Bay Surf Life Saving (SLS) Emergency Call-out squad.
Constable Andrew Walker said the annual training exercise gives our teams the opportunity to improve and practice our operating procedures and gives new crew members a chance to work on their skills in a realistic emergency situation.
An incident management team made up of Police Search and Rescue, Coastguard and SLS members ran the search.
A further 25 personnel from the SLS Emergency Call-out squad and Coastguard were on the water around Waimarama in five inflatable rescue boats and the Coastguard rigid hull inflatable Celia Knowles.
Constable Walker said it was the perfect time to remind people of the basic rules they should follow.
- Let someone know where you are going and when you plan to be home.
- Check the marine weather forecast
- Take two waterproof ways to call for help
- Wear your lifejacket
- Avoid alcohol

Bevis, a resident at Ryman’s Anthony Wilding Village, recently received a gentleman’s makeover. The day began at the barbershop where Bevis and his barber Kohl shared plenty of laughs. Next up, a personal stylist helped Bevis select clothes he looked and felt great in. Being pampered isn’t the norm for Bevis but based on his smile, we’re confident he loved every minute.
