The Celebrity Solstice sailed out of the southern city, the last port of call in this country, on Sunday.

Rather than risk being stuck on board the Sydney-bound vessel, or being stuck in isolation across the Tasman, they left the vessel instead. Many of those passengers were taken straight to the airport or to city hotels.

A parking app used by several New Zealand councils has gone offline, with councils scrambling for a quick fix amid social media backlash.

The PayMyPark smartphone app was this week flagged as "experiencing technical issues" in Marlborough, Wellington, Dunedin, Waitaki, Hutt and Tauranga.

The Dunedin City Council said in comments on a Facebook post, which announced the app was unavailable, that someone had attempted to breach the app's website.

"Due to the security systems in place, no personal information or credit card details were accessed. Cyber security specialists were called in and as a security measure, the site and app were taken offline. They are working to get the site and app back online as a high priority."

“If I hear music, I just want to dance – body seems to just move!” says dancer Audrey, 84. Poet Brian, 86, says “Poetry helps me to question and understand the meaning of life”, followed by a witty “– haven’t worked out what it means yet”.

As their residents blaze their own trails, Ryman matches that pioneering spirit. “Ryman villages offer living choices to suit everyone so that you can live the way you want.

Gone are the days of getting one qualification out of school to see you through your working life. Now, upskilling, online courses and on-the-job training are all part of making your way up the career ladder.

We want to talk to people who have completed micro-credentials, bitesize qualifications for specific skills.

Perhaps you've pieced together a full qualification by doing online courses, or maybe you've taken a workshop rather than investing in a six-month course. We'd love to hear from you - email josephine.franks@stuff.co.nz
