Severe weather watch - Strong winds
A pair of warm and cold fronts are expected to move east to affect the South Island from Saturday afternoon to Sunday, bringing a period of heavy rain to the west of the South Island, and strong northwesterly winds to the south and east of the South Island.
Area: All Otago
Valid: 8 hours from 5:00pm Saturday to 1:00am Sunday
Forecast: Northwesterly winds may approach severe gale in exposed places at times.
Area: Fiordland, Southland (including Stewart Island) and Clutha
Valid: 8 hours from 2:00pm to 10:00pm Saturday
Forecast: Northwesterly winds may approach severe gale in exposed places at times.
