Severe thunderstorm watch
MetService has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Waikato.
Valid from 1:00pm to 9:00pm today. Localised downpours of 25 to 40mm per hour are possible with thunderstorms in this region.
Rainfall of this intensity can cause surface and/or flash flooding, especially about low-lying areas such as streams, rivers or narrow valleys, and may also lead to slips. Driving conditions will also be hazardous with surface flooding and poor visibility in heavy rain.
This watch will be updated by 2:00pm today.

Just a reminder that Friday 6th February is Waitangi Day and we will therefore be closed, as we join the rest of the country in marking the anniversary of the signing of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
