Julie Kaio Reporter from Franklin County News

The weather gods smiled on Franklin for the beginning of winter sport for hundreds throughout our district on the weekend.
The sun shone on the Pukekohe Netball Centre courts for the first day of 2017 grading on Saturday - which saw players of all ages take to the court for the start for season ahead.
As usual, the day was superbly organised by the professional Pukekohe Netball Centre crew who never cease to amaze me how they skilfully co-ordinate hundreds of players in dozens of games each Saturday.
The start of the winter season is an opportune time to thank all our wonderful volunteers who give up their precious time to ensure players enjoy their chosen sport, whether that be on the netball courts, rugby and soccer fields or hockey turf.
Without these dedicated volunteers, so many of our youngsters would simply miss out - so take a bow all of you - and thanks for all you do.

Julie :)
