Credit must be given where due. Gratitude too.

Lissa from Kauri Coast

Hi All
I answered an ad for a Hoover vacuum cleaner posted by Shona Lamont some days ago. It was very cheap, so I asked her for it. I live in Dargaville; she is in Whangarei. We wondered how I would get it to my home. Then I had to accompany a youngster to McKay Stadium on Tuesday night for wheelchair soccer. I asked Shona whether she would be able to bring the vacuum cleaner there for me. Not only did she gladly oblige, but the vacuum cleaner was spotlessly clean, well packed in a box with a new bag fitted, a spare bag in the box, and a pet-hair head which had cost $85. All the fittings were included. The machine looked brand new! I paid $45. The vacuum cleaner works brilliantly. I just want to do a shout-out to someone we can all trust. Thank you, Shona!

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?
