Interference
I am 79 years old age and have been farming for 50 of them, during which I have learnt many things and skills.
I have also spent many years serving our voluntary communities and sports clubs.
During this time I have just got on being a good citizen abiding by the laws of the country. But I am getting very frustrated with those members of our country who think they know better than me and many others on how to do our jobs.
These are those who have no hesitation in contact organisations and departments when they think one of our animals has been neglected or not treated to their interpretation of the correct way. or when we light a legally permitted fire, they contact the Fire Department and report it as out of control, this involves the Fire service turning out to check it out.
They hide behind anonymity of the Privacy Act, as the various agency concern. cannot inform of who lodged they complaint.
I have been advising those agency that when they attend a complaint that they should advise the complainant that if it turns out that there is no danger to life or property or malicious, they will be charged for the expenses incurred.
I have had two experience's in the last six weeks where the SPCA and the Fire Service have turned up at our property and in both cases these were triggered by uninformed person's.
In the latest incident involved the local brigade arriving at our property - at 10-20 pm at night, with lights flashing on a private road, when they knew I had a permit.
I was appointed a Rural Fire officer for the Whangarei District Council in the 1980's and attended three fire fighting courses then, so do know what I am doing.
I wonder if the person who contacted the Fire Service last Wednesday Night will have the guts to reply if they read this.
In future, to all you SELF called DO GOODERS, MYOBB'S
