Parent Programme - Supporting your child following separation and divorce

Heather from Warkworth

When major change or loss occurs in families, parents’ concerns are often framed around important questions such as:
• How do I talk with my child about what’s happened?
• What kind of reaction might I expect from my child?
• What can I do to support my child?
• Does it matter if my child sees me upset?
• How will I know what my child wants or needs?

The Seasons for Growth Parent Programme has been developed to help answer some of these questions. It provides an opportunity for parents to better understand the experience of separation and divorce from a child's perspective. The program draws on evidence about what children experience and need to help them transition well through family change.
Facilitated by trained Seasons for Growth Companions, the distinctive child-centred approach provides emotional space and a non-judgmental environment for parents to share, discuss and learn ideas and strategies to support their children.
Seasons for Growth Parent Programme is a small group programme for 5-10 parents.
It will be held as a one-day workshop for parents/caregivers.
Date: Friday, June 9th
Venue: Warkworth
Time: 9 am – 4 pm
Cost: $20.00
Limited spaces. Registration is essential.

Poll: How important is the ability to book a doctor’s appointment online?

The Doctors

Hi Neighbours
Here at The Doctors we would love to hear how you prefer to book your doctor’s appointments. With busy schedules, different people find different methods easier.

For some, online booking is very convenient, you can make an appointment anytime without needing to wait on the phone. Others still prefer calling the clinic and speaking to a real person, especially if they have specific questions about their visit.

Your feedback helps us understand what works best for our patients and how we can improve access to care.

Poll: Should we ditch daylight saving? 🕰️

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

First introduced in New Zealand in 1927 with the passing of the Summer Time Act, it's what we know as 'Daylight Saving' and this year it ends on the first Sunday in April.

While we do get to sleep in this time around, some people would like to scrap the clock tinkering for good.

And why? Some evidence suggests the time changes are bad for our health as they mess with sleep patterns leading to short-term fatigue and affecting mood. Meanwhile the hour change is frustrating for farmers and a nightmare for getting the littlies to sleep. But what's your take?
