North Rodney's application for a unitary authority dismissed by report
North Rodney's applications for a unitary or district council, or to merge with Kaipara District Council, have been dismissed as impractical, according to a report from Morrison Low.
The report, released early this week, identifies either the status quo or two Rodney local boards, under the existing Auckland Council, as the preferred options for local government in Rodney.
The Local Government Commission will now decide whether to proceed with the proposals to create new councils on Waiheke in in North Rodney.
What do you think? Is it too late to split North Rodney from Auckland Council?

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
