Our Moon: Then, Now & Beyond - the perfect Winter exhibition at Aratoi
Over the last few years, Aratoi has been proudly curating exhibitions that relate to Matariki for the whole whānau to enjoy. This year they are delighted to have the wonderful "Our Moon: Now, Then & Beyond" 20 May - 16 July - the exhibition is on loan from Nelson Provincial Museum.
The Moon has been a constant source of fascination for thousands of years all across the world. This exhibition brings together a 5m diameter scale model of the Moon and explores the mythological, the scientific and cultural importance of our nearest neighbour and its role in marking Matariki.
See the Moon up close, find out what it smells like and what mythology is around it in this hands-on and interactive exhibition. Find craters on the Moon, the Sea of Tranquility, learn about the Maramataka and even build a space station! There are whānau activities and public programmes with this exhibition. Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?
As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙
One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

Builder Wanted or seeking builder (LBP).
We are looking for a semi-retired builder or solo LBP to supervise / co-work with me while I undertake an extension project as a self-build . Rates to be negotiated prior to commencement. Currently in the design stage at present with Architect. I have experience from past house builds so not a raw beginner, both in design and construction.
