Wairarapa Film Festival - a great weather-proof event!

The Masterton programme for the Wairarapa Film Festival is being presented at Regent 3 Cinemas, Masterton District Library, Kuranui and Wairarapa College, on 25 – 28th May 2023. There will be a mix of in-cinema screenings with guest speakers, in-school rangatahi filmmaking workshops, and a free whānau-friendly screening at your local library.

We are so lucky to live in a region where local film and filmmakers are valued. We have world-class filmmakers who hail from this region – Jemaine Clement, Barry Barclay, Vincent Ward, and Ramai Haywood are just a few examples. We also have world-class filmmakers who come to this region to help tell our stories, such as Dame Gaylene Preston.
Check out the full programme here and of course online:

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
