Blessing of the Animals

Cecily from Pukekohe

This Sunday, we celebrate St Francis Day at 9.30am at the Pukekohe Anglican Church. Please bring your pets to this family service, in the Reid Anderson Hall at St Andrew's, on the corner of Queen St and Wesley St, Pukekohe. ALL WELCOME.
St Francis of Assisi lived from 1181 to 1226 in Italy and is known as the patron saint of animals, the environment, Italy, merchants and stowaways. Francis was born into the privileged life of a nobleman, but eventually worldly desires no longer satisfied him. He wanted a simpler life with his love for poverty, nature and simplicity. Eventually, he founded the religious order of Franciscans, whose brothers preached the Gospel, made poverty holy, and worked hard to bring the word of God to a world that desperately needed it. He is known as the first person to receive the stigmata.

Poll: Should the government levy industries that contribute to financial hardship?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

As reported in the Post, there’s a $30 million funding gap in financial mentoring. This has led to services closing and mentors stepping in unpaid just to keep helping people in need 🪙💰🪙

One proposed solution? Small levies on industries that profit from financial hardship — like banks, casinos, and similar companies.

So we want to hear what you think:
Should the government ask these industries to contribute?

Wild weather in the Waikato

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

The Waikato really copped it over the weekend, with wild weather leaving a hefty clean-up bill that may run into the millions.

While things are looking calmer in the days ahead, there are still plenty of slips and flooded roads across the district — so if you’re heading out, take it easy and stay alert.

We want to know: How did you and your whānau get on over the weekend?

Want to see what recovery will look like from here? The Waikato Times has the latest.
