Avalon Combined Club (affiliated to Friendship NZ Inc)
Offers about-to-retire, semi-retired and retired Hutt City residents a place to meet new people, have fun, and make new friends. New members welcome.
As well as our monthly meetings (with interesting Speakers on all sorts of topics), which are held at 10.00am on the second Thursday of each month at the Hutt Bowling Club, Myrtle Street, we have regular Outings, monthly Dine Out evenings, afternoon Movies, and the following Groups: Gardening, Craft, Chat, Bowls and Walking. We also have a Book Club. So there's something for everyone to enrich your lives, built knowledge and develop new ideas.
If you'd like to join us at one of our meetings, please contact our Secretary - Jack Richardson on 589 3585 or our President - Pam Ryan on 021 2356574. Alternatively, you're welcome to just pop in.
Poll: Should all neighbours have to contribute to improvements?
An Auckland court has ruled a woman doesn’t have to contribute towards the cost of fixing a driveway she shares with 10 neighbours.
When thinking about fences, driveways or tree felling, for example, do you think all neighbours should have to pay if the improvements directly benefit them?

What's your favourite tomato recipe?
Kia ora neighbours. We know your tomato plants are still growing, but we're looking ahead to the harvest already! If you've got a family recipe for tomatoes, we'd love to see it and maybe publish it in our magazine to share with our readers. Send your recipe to mailbox@nzgardener.co.nz, and if we use it in the mag, you will receive a free copy of our February 2025 issue.
